Friday’s  MEETING IS CANCELED

Hello,Dennis#810b .We hope and pray you and your family are well and continue protecting yourselves. We are canceling our GAP meetings until further notice, with a review of circumstances. How to Stay Calm During the Chinese-virus (AKA, Corona virus) Crisis

Does God Know Our Situation? YES!  The Heart Of A Discipler.

GAP Facilitator and Teacher, John Hashek, reminds us that when we are weak, He is strong, perhaps especially in discipling. Look, the fountains from which love flows are in God, not in us. It is absurd to think that the love of God is naturally in our hearts, as a result of our own nature. His love is there only because it “has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit…” (Romans 5:5).

Heart of a Discipler
Rehearse God’s power and walk by his Spirit. Given our Master’s power for disciple-making, what will it look like for us to pursue the master plan in light of the Master’s power?
Let me take you to one text — and it’s about pastor-elders in the church — because this text gets at the heart of the kind of disciple-makers we’ll be when we’re in awe of the Master’s power.
Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. (1 Peter 5:2–4)

Notice the three positive-and-negative pairs:
1. not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;
2. not for shameful gain, but eagerly;
3. not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.

This is our calling, brothers, in pastoring and in disciple-making: not to control, but to influence; not to domineer, but to serve; not to wear the yoke of compulsion, but to do it willingly, with joy. Which Peter says is “as God would have you.”

This is the kind of God we have and the kind of calling he gives. Our God does not act from compulsion and obligation and mere duty, but willingly, eagerly, joyfully. And this is our calling: to gladly lead with our lives as an example, not with demands on our disciples. To take every opportunity we can, with open hands, to influence them for Jesus’s sake, and die to every urge to control. And to not just slog it out, but to disciple with joy.

Today’s Prayer
Righteous Father, your holiness is unattainable. But you have given it to us through the gracious gift of your Son on the cross and the cleansing, empowering, indwelling, and transforming gift of the Holy Spirit. In the name of Jesus, we praise you almighty God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I recognize that Jesus’ awesome teaching and amazing miracles happened because of his allegiance to you as he was empowered by the Holy Spirit. I am thankful that this same power is at work in my life. I am comforted to know that Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit to live within me and to be at work in my life. In Jesus’ name, I thank you and praise you. Amen.

GAP-  GODLY ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNERS

Iron Men come together Friday mornings at 7:00 for 60 minutes, a 15-30 minute teaching time followed by breakouts in groups of 10-20 men to discuss our week, the teaching, open and close with prayer together.

Jesus, who was the Master Teacher, constantly used the teaching method most suitable for His audience, and a quick search through the scriptures shows that Jesus used a variety of many teaching methods. Included in the different tools Christ used were the scriptures, parables, inspired questions, discussion, logic, object lessons, analogies, preaching, silence, repetition, prophecy, experience, observation and testimony.

Each week, for one hour, participating men will be pared with a handpicked Godly leader with whom they are familiar with, that is well versed in a particular Biblical topic or men’s issue. Your leader will cover today’s tough issues that we face. In confidence together; we will discuss these issues head-on and  you will find honest and frank discussions with, biblical, practical solutions (and pull no punches).

We cannot live a holy life apart from the help of the Holy Spirit for, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

You will be encouraged to find another man (just like you) who knows The Holy Spirit inspired the Word of God and only Christians who are filled with the Spirit can understand the true meaning of God’s Word.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”(Romans 12:2)

At our advanced Bible Study, we ask that you use the Holy Spirit for discernment. The Spirit operates through scripture. Through biblical discernment, you can discover wisdom and direction. Without it, you’ll fail to distinguish God’s purposes and word from your purposes and words. Then again whenever we preach, we need to see what Jesus has to say on any topic. After all, the preacher’s opinion is irrelevant. What really counts is, “what does God say?”  In that light, keep reading your Bible!

As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him. (1 John 2:27)

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. (John 14:26)

Jesus told his followers, “By this all everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35).

Paul reminds us that we believe in a “God of hope” who can “fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)

                         Come Now, Let Us Reason Together!
To imitate Christ, it is essential to ask God for help, through His Spirit, so we can humbly obey God and bring our thoughts, attitudes and actions in line with His. We must allow His Spirit to become the guiding force in our lives to produce the qualities of true Christianity. To be “All In”, we constantly have to ask ourselves whether we are really being led by God’s Spirit or are resisting it.
