Thomas Jones, AIA, is a partner and Director of Design at JMDG Architecture| Planning + Interiors headquartered in Naples, Florida. In this role he oversees the design and execution of all commercial building types, select large-scale custom single-family homes, interiors, master planning, and multi-family projects. He has a Bachelor of Architecture from New Jersey Institute of Technology where he received honors for 3rd, 4th, and 5th year Design Studios. In addition, he was an all-star soccer player on the NCAA men’s soccer team and a right-side hitter on the NCAA volleyball team which segued into playing local pro beach volleyball along the Jersey Shore. During his college tenure he played guitar in a modern rock band in which he wrote the music, recorded an album, and had a song get radio airplay in the northern New Jersey-Manhattan area. Tom relocated to Naples from New Jersey in 1999 for career purposes and has over 27 years of professional practice experience in both luxury residential and commercial architecture.
In 1993, Tom accepted an invitation from someone he was personally training in beach volleyball to attend a summer church picnic for a local Calvary Chapel church that had been recently planted from southern California. In January of 1994 while attending Calvary Chapel he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and embarked on journey of intently studying the Bible and growing in his faith.
For over 20 years since being in Naples, Tom has played guitar in several different church worship bands and at one point for two churches at one time. Tom has had the privilege to coach the Naples First Baptist Academy girls high school varsity volleyball team and personally mentor the first high school graduating class valedictorian for FBA. Throughout the last two decades, Tom has been emersed in local evangelical Christian churches through ministering to youth, playing guitar on praise and worship bands, guest teaching at services, leading small home groups, coaching, and professionally doing church planning, architecture, and interior design projects. Tom has served locally on non-profit boards and currently is on the Board of Directors for faith based Path2Freedom which provides a local residential rehabilitation program and safe house for girls rescued from sex trafficking in Florida. In his spare-time he runs, bikes, teaches an in-depth Bible study, and is writing a book.
Tom approaches the Christian church world with a kingdom mentality instead of through a myopic denominal perspective. He believes this is due to how the Holy Spirit has led him over the years to attend and serve churches which range in form from conservative to charismatic. These experiences have given him a balanced perspective on church culture and functions. In turn, this has allowed him to avoid denominational or dogmatic influences regarding scriptural interpretation and doctrine. But rather, this has compelled him in the pursuit to rightly divide the Word of Truth in his teaching ministry.
Tom is married to his wife Courtney, a Realtor®, who serves as Director of Business Development for JMDG Architecture. They have three grown daughters and one granddaughter. Courtney serves with Tom by utilizing her gifts to minister and mentor woman of all ages. Her life experiences as a wife, mother, businesswoman, and believer who walks closely with the Holy Spirit has given her a platform to bring the truth, wisdom, and healing power of God to people who need deliverance. Together with Tom in Tom + Courtney Jones Ministries, they are cultivating a ministry to believers and unbelievers which intently addresses the prevalent spiritual battles people are facing in the ends times we are in.
teaching ministry calling
Tom received a direction from the Holy Spirit to teach the Word of God for the purpose of “Equipping” the body of believers in Christ. His teaching calling started with teenage youth but quickly evolved to adults as the Holy Spirit drove his passion for the deeper things of God. This pursuit was validated with every teaching series or speaking engagement as believers were noticeably hungry for depth and clarity on many Biblical topics. Tom believes his gifted athletic talent with an unshakeable competitive spirit to win had segued into a mentality for welcoming the challenge to compete for the absolute Truth of God in a culture intent on defeating Christians through marginalizing God. Today, that motivation helps him get Christians off the sidelines of society and resource them with the tools to overcome their insecurities and fears about contending for their faith among skeptics, atheists, and secular science teachings.
